Out & About | AW

The domicile grew silent and still as an ebony silhouette shifted within the depths of the shadows. Only two oddly shaded blue luminaries were visible in this darkened area of the coniferous forest, yet, his exhales in breath showed like small pools of mist. The shadow walker's appendages summoned him forward to the calling of the hunt once again. This time for some creature much larger than his previous catch. Mule Deer. Hunting these larger beasts would sure have the pack animals realizing there was yet another loner and a problem roaming free in their territory. Coming to a halt now at the edge of the woods, spotting a small herd. His orbs stared at them until he found a calf from the past spring. No. He wanted something larger. He kept shifting his eyes from deer to deer until they landed on a decently sized buck.

Enzo's mouth grew hot as he thought of the scent taste of iron blood against his fangs. There was something about the feeling of tarring flesh from another beast that fascinated him. Shifting forward, he began to stalk towards them slowly as could be. The lead cow let out a snort of alert and he saw his chance as the herd began to scramble off. He launched his body into a full out run to catch up to his chosen target. Reaching up to the buck only took minutes which lead to him nipping at the long legs and sides of the animal to slow it down. His plan worked, as always. The buck stopped and began to swing it's antlers from left to right. Enzo allowed a long thunderous howl to escape his jaws as he lunged onto the antlers of the beast and attempted to crawl onto it's back as fast as he could. After what seemed to take hours happened. Bits and pieces of the mule deers antlers scraped against Enzo's shoulders and hind legs. He only growled in outrage, ignoring the sheer agonizing pain. Finally now, the canine crunched down with his fangs onto the back of the prey's thick neck and shook. The buck reared up to the point where it collapsed backwards with the wolf still biting down on its neck. Once he hit the ground, the canine released his grip and bolted to the head of his prey. That is where he bit down, holding both mouth and nose tightly in his grasp.  Enzo's eyes grew into slits as he felt the deer weakening and losing its breath. Mostly, this is how he would have hunted a larger animal like this with a pack but he had enough experience to do it alone. Now the buck collapsed onto the ground, giving up on life. As Enzo felt the last breath of the deer exit it's nose and mouth, he let go.

Looking down upon the deceased animal and grunted. As always once killing any animal like this, he howls. Enzo threw his head back and howled from deeply within his chest. Would this have the pack knowing of his presence? Most likely but, they had not found him yet. Enzo finished his call and began to tare into the tawny pelt of the mule deer and tarring off giant chunks, he began to drag them along while limping.. His leg and shoulders slowly seeped blood but yet this did not stop him. Limping away with pieces locked tightly within his ivory teeth into the shadows to finish his prey with the corpse of his latest victim behind in the forest...

The Alpha felt she would take a run through the forest on a sunny day as it was. She had been at the den before and knew that she would need some excersize. She loved the way the wind ruffled her fur and the adrenaline spread wildly with each sprint she thundered on the ground. Suddenly, the alpha came to a clearing and paused as she head a howl in the distance. Her ears flicked forward and Nashota looked around to see which way she needed to go. North, she told herself, and she ran onward. The strangers scent grew deeper and Nashotas nostrils flared. The Alpha paused she. She crossed a carcass of a slaughtered mule deer. The female retraced her steps before leaping a patch of bushes and barked. "You are one brave and foolish little- the female paused in her statement in shock. He was a dark male-and he was familiar. "Enzo?" Her eyes were wide with shock, frozen in her lowered stance, front paws spread out, hindquarters raised.

The beastly canine continued to limp with a leg from his mule deer kill still locked tightly within the grasp on his incisors. Rays from the sun above shone down on the landscape, casting cool dark shadows beneath nearly every tree. With a heavy huff, he paused and studied one location under a great towering pine with bdark green needles. Bushes lay before it with surrounding birch trees and obviously more pines were about. Birds above tweeted and called out to one another and briefly in the far off distance a stream could be heard. This should be decent enough for a simple quick snack, he thought to himself, peaceful enough after that fun hunt. He lowered himself to the ground with caution making sure not to brush his wounds into any pine bristles. The cuts still seeped little blood out but, he ignored this. Small scuffles from hunts were normal to his daily routine and to his survival. Every meal was vital for a vagabond trying to live every day to it's fullest. He did not mind the loneliness it brought with it because he enjoyed the solitude. Yes, he enjoyed the few encounters with she wolves willing to flirt and joke around with him on his long travels and the brutes willing to try to spark fights with him. Lost in his thoughts, he began to relax as his stomach called out with hunger.   

Just as he began to tare into the warm flesh of the leg the sound of oncoming paw steps forced his tall ears to perks upright. A steady groan emerged from his throat as he quickly grew annoyed. Within a brief moment a figure shot out from the other side of the bushes barking out insults. He began to chuckle lowly to himself as the canine quickly spoke out his name. His blue orbs thinned as she looked at the she wolf, analyzing her coat til he realized who it was. "Hello, darling." he barked out with the slightest tail wag. "Nice to see you again." he chuckled before lowering his mawl and taking a quick bite from the deer leg. Simply, putting it he did not mind the fact he was one Nashota's territory, nor the fact he had practically stolen off of it as well. A quick flashback brought him back to the days when he always made fun of her strange native accent and it brought a smirk over his black lips. Oh, how she used to get so irritated with him.

She watched him in shock as he casually raided his head to look at her, studying her, not remembering her at first. Then he greeted her in his usual manner that, spite her as it usually did before he went back to his kill. The Chief growled low and leaped towards the male, landing in front of his kill. She snapped her jaws short of his about. "You could could have alerted me you were here!" She growled. "And you could share." She added, sliding her tongue over based canines. "Where have you been?" She demanded, keeping her stance.  She hadn't seen him in a long while and thoughts of his teasing about her accent were unwelcome.

The masculine watched the las out of the corners of his blue orbs carefully. Practically ignoring her his attention was drawn back to small feast which lay before his front pads. Lowering his muzzle down he rolled out his wet tongue and licked slowly where the fur was already torn off. Bright red tendons were shown forcing his lips to water and his stomach to groan out in the awkward silence. Just as he was about to take another bit she spoke again. Pinning his ears as she spoke he listened carefully but, never raised his cranium in her direction. "You have such impeccable timing there officer when I wanna snatch a quick bite." he huffed out slowly in his deep toned voice. "If you want some so badly, help yourself." When the chief spat out her final questions of his whereabouts, he groaned loudly. The advisor of this certain pack had been away for some time, out searching. Searching for what? New members, neighboring packs and their lands. Anything and everything with valuable information that he was willing to return to his leader. He didn't find anything too interesting, just the normal. Before being appointed second in command he was a former hunter. With the rank and years of experience he had great stamina and muscling to help out on these special missions. "I had to leave the territory in order to follow your instructions of finding any information. And to answer that, I found nothing than what we already know for the time being. No vagabonds about, the natives are keeping their respectable distance, the herds of prey are going strong like we want." he said after turning his piercing eyes back to his superior. With a chuckle he added, "And would ya look at that, I brought dinner." Even though he was a jerk that barely ever watched his mouth, he knew how to say things to the female.

Nashota watched him, silent, her patience thinking. She flicked an ear when he finally spoke. "Timing, huh?" She gave him a dirty look before stepping forward to join him, even though she should wait till he had finished reporting. She waas rather hungry. As she studied the carcass to see what she wanted to tear into, he gave her his report. She sighed. Finding others to join them was hard. Not very many wolves wanted to live so close to the two-leggeds. She had been raised wild, despising any form of being 'used or tamed by them, but their existence, as she knew it was a peaceful one. It was a matter she would have to be patient on. The herd was a lesser concern due to the needs being so plentiful. There were times when she would see two-leggeds hunting the large buffalo, what a grand and amusing site. She didn't respond right away. Nashota had found a tender section near the animals chest, which shetore into. Her preferred meal was fish. She loved to swim for them, but a free work-free meal somewhat outweighed the two options. She swallowed a chunk before speaking, running her tongue over her bloodstained maw. "I suppose we will need to be patient." She sighed. "You did well." She had relaxed, and felt a nap was needed soon. Perhaps after she ate.

Nashota continued to taste the blood of the triumphant kill as she listened to her fellow friend give a wise comment. She chuckled. Sometimes he was actually quite tolerable. Perhaps that was why she liked him so. When he mentioned a nap, Nashota nodded, but before she could move anywhere she heard a voice she didn't quite recognize at first. A black male stood with his head low, eyes seeming to be lost in a sea of memories. Nashota had a hazy memory at first, not used to having to keep track of more than one male. "Who are you?" She narrowed her eyes trying to remember how they had met, if at all. She glanced at Enzo to see if maybe his memory knew anything better than hers.

An unsteady thundering growl rumbled within the chest of the masculine. His steady blue orbs shifted to a narrowed look as an ebony figure emerged from the blending shadows. Something about the way this canine moved was all too familiar yet at the same time, was not. When the individual spoke out asking of the good hunt in a friendly manner his lobes pinned against his head. Where had he seen this brute from? Trying not to stare awkwardly the deputy began to lose himself in thought until it dawned on him a brief moment later. With a low huff he barked out, "I remember you. Rum?" he asked simply. Shifting his attention towards his chief he dipped his head, "I met him once on my travels and we were.. what would ya call it?" Thumping his tail a few times onto the grassy terrain. "short time comrades perhaps." It was true the two traveled for a bit together while the second in command wolf was fulfilling his duties and he had spoke with him of his mission to find strays wishing for a new home. Perhaps Rumulus became interested after all and decided to sought after this small pack.

Nashota looked at the advisor as he explained how he had met this Rum he too with him on a scout mission. The Chief nodded. She didn't remember meeting him, which was nothing unusual for her to forget how or when she had met someone. She glanced between the two before she sighed and looked at Rum. "Welcome." She said, not knowing what else to say. In her mind, it was becoming quite awkward.

Short post...dog needed to go out.

The sound of Chris's paws running in the grass ceased the silence of the unknown forest. He was furious and anguished for not having anyone else. No one cared about him and Gaudner, his only friend, had died not long ago. That made him very sad.

His ride seemed to never end, he was tired, but the anger wouldn't let him stop. Until he enters a rocky and humid floor. His front paw slipped as he rolled downhill. His head beated strongly against a rock, making a loud noise that echoes through the forest. His body falls on the grass floor, without movements, only the breath. His head begins to bleed slightly from the beat. Chris moaned slightly because of the pain, and then his vision began to darken.

Perking his ears Mikasi paused his chewing on an elk bone he raised his head to look around. The thumping sounding like something big yet it wasn't too far, the scent only having fresh blood which he tilted his head since he didn't know if the pack was out hunting. The young grey wolf rising to his paws to curiously go and follow this scent, a part of him hoping it was hunting since a bone was nice but fresh prey was even better.
Stopping at the top of some hill he looked around to see that he wasn't exactly right. He could scent the blood yet there wasn't any injured prey or wolves running about. Chip's scent being fresh but he couldn't see the young apprentice. Mikasi hoping that the pup didn't get himself into any trouble. "Chip? Are you here?" he asked, glancing around but not looking down.

"Chip? Are you here?"
Chris hears a voice coming from not too far away. In his daydreams he sees the image of a large white wolf dog in front of him. He remembers when Gaudner teaches him how to fight and he always go to the ground. "G-gaudner?" he asks in the hope of being his old friend, even though he knew he was already dead. He closes his eyes heavily with pain and moans.

Perking his ears more he could hear the faint voice of the apprentice from below, his own heart skipping a beat since the scent of blood is stronger every time he breathed in the air near it. His paws uneasy yet he forced himself to carefully slide down the hill to make sure the pup is okay.
"Chip? Where are you?"Mikasi called while keeping his ears perked, hoping he could easily find him since he knows the pups fur easily blends in with the shadow.

"Chip? Where are you?"
Chris hears the voice again, this time it was closer. With much effort he gets up and limps to the top of the rocks and says "I'm here!". He goes down the rocks quickly and walks to where the voice came. On the way he smells a wolf. On the horizon sees a large gray wolf. Chris goes to him, limping and moaning in pain. The young black wolf was walking with his head lowered, his eyes raised toward the gray wolf. Drops of blood fell on the green grass leaving a small trail.

Sharply turning his head his blood ran cold at the sight. His paws quicker to his mind as he bounded down to instinctively support and help his pack mate. Horrified that the once bubbly pup was beaten as if a whole herd of elk trampled over him.
"Chip what happened?! Did you fall down here?"Mikasi quickly asked to help ease him down to his paws. Already knowing by spring the cliff sides would be slippery with mud and loose stones. His heart hammering with worry for the apprentice since a fall like this would break bones to even the strongest warrior.

Once he got closer, he recognized the gray wolf. Mikasi. The older one asked him worried:
"Chip what happened?! Did you fall down here?"
Chris closed his eyes tightly again with the pain. "My... my he-head," he says through groans and then he falls with his weak forepaws. His vision begins to darken again. The beat on his head seemed to have been strong. Then he falls in the ground again this time completely fainted.

The charcoal deputy yawned with boredom, flashing ivory incisors alongside a bright pink tongue. Shifting his golden gaze to his chief for a brief moment before grunting uneasily from the silence the other brute had suddenly caught. "Perhaps we should head to the resting area?" he suggested with another sidelong glance to the oddly shaded las. Rising onto his long appendages the masculine stretched out with his upper half of his frame still on the ground and his rump in the air. His ears perked straight upright as well as his tail shooting into the air. With another groan his hoisted himself up onto all fours where he stood, awaiting his regal. "After a good meal, a nice nap sounds just about right." he muttered aloud.

Unable to let the panic subside the smaller grey male crouched to lay beside him, gently lapping away the blood to whimper in uncertainty. His tail tucked under him to try and figure out what to do. He couldn’t heal him but he wouldn’t be able to drag the male back up the hill. His fur bristling slightly in nervousness to sit up on his haunches to let out a call howl to see if any pack mate where near them at this moment. A part of him hoping it was as close as he wanted.
“Don’t worry Chip I’ll be here until help arrives.” The slim traveler said to try and clean the wound so it wouldn’t get infected. A whimper escaping his throat in worry.

The young alpha flicked an ear when Enzo suggested they head for the den. She glanced at Rum before nodding. She locked blood they still stained muzzle before peering at Enzo as he stretched his limbs. Nashota yawned, tired from a long day. "Yes, I suppose it is time to head home." She noted that the day had indeed started to darken. "We should make one last round of the area first." She suggested. "We may discover others lurking before the day is over." She glanced around, wondering what they would find out there. She stood and shook her fur clean of debris and started to score the fields, anticipating that the others would follow her.

Nashota paused in her observations in the lands before her when a howl rose to the stars. The female flicked an ear, looking in the direction of the cry for help. She glanced at Enzo when he suggested they investigate the site the sound came from. Nashota didn't refuse a distress call and she wasn't about to do that now. "Let's go." She said, picking up a trot. "Be catious." She warned before breaking into a sprint.

The sound was near a ravine. Nashota slowed her pace and peaked over the edge into darkness. "Anyone down there?" She barked. She waited for the others before she would venture into the crevice.
